YOUR ROLE
This is a rare opportunity to join a small team in a fast-growing company in Zurich and work on one of the important security challenges globally. Over the past years Arktis has developed next generation systems that detect and identify radioactive and nuclear materials.
You support us in the agile development and testing process of our detectors and systems and you will provide quality solutions in support of Arktis’ detection systems. This implies support the production and maintenance of both new and existing detectors and systems.
The position will be based at Arktis offices in Zurich and might involve international travel.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support analysis and refinement of system requirements
  • Coordinating internal resources, suppliers and logistics aspects of projects
  • Efficiently transition prototypes to products, focusing on manufacturability, cost and reliability
  • Mechanical and electrical system design including component specification and selection
  • System and sub-system integration with emphasis on electronics and hardware
  • Support system testing procedures
  • Perform system installation and commissioning
  • Define features, performance, interfaces and cost specifications for each subsystem
  • Create good quality documentation
  • Assist clients in resolving issues and complaints
  • Bid preparation as part of a team effort
PROFILE
  • Education in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar on the level of FH/ETH
  • Worked in system integration and testing
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-discipline engineering projects
  • Customer oriented approach
  • Self starter, fast learner
REQUIRED SKILL
  • Experience in hardware and software design and development
  • Experience in managing system integration of mechanical, electrical and software components
  • Supervising external contract engineering projects
  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols and related hardware infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Experience in working in accordance to Quality Management Systems
  • Fluent in oral and written English
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • 3D CAD experience
  • working permit (B or C) or Swiss national
  • Team spirit, winning personality
DESIRABLE SKILLS
  • Fluent in oral and written German
  • 2-5 years relevant working experience
  • Knowledge of failure analysis and MTBF calculations
  • Basic software knowledge (C++, Python, Linux)
  • Knowledge in radiation detection
  • ECAD experience
  • Experience in government contracting is a valuable asset
